Community Funeral Fund

Burial cost in South Australia varies from $5500 to $12000. This could be a substantial amount for some community members and families. Repatriation of dead body back to Pakistan takes around $13000 to $15000 depends on different factors.

PAASA runs a community funeral fund to help and assist the bereaved family with the burial cost of their loved ones in any of the two available cemeteries. Cost of the burial in Al-Khalil Mosque cemetery is around $12000. Whole of the burial process is managed by Al-Khalil Mosque administration.

Whereas Adelaide City Mosque runs Morphett Vale cemetery where the average cost of burial is around $5500. Burial process in Adelaide City Mosque is run by Fulham Funerals.

PAASA run this charity program with the help of Pakistani community members in the form of donations and charities. Funeral Fund account is separate from PAASA operational account. We urge the community members to pay their charity and donations to the funeral fund account to keep this service running for the time of need.

Funeral Fund Application

This fund is designed to be flexible and will provide grants for immediate needs including funeral service emergency response to significant loss of life, to organizations and resources providing service to families with unresolved and complicated grief due to loss, and for other important needs of the funeral service profession and the members we serve.

Community Vehicle

With the help of Department of Multicultural Affairs, Office of the Premier and Cabinet, under Stronger Together grant program, PAASA purchased a 12-seater van for the Pakistani community in SA.

This vehicle is for hire for the community members whenever they need it subject to the availability of the vehicle. Some of the purposes of this vehicle is to pick and drop newly arrived families from airport to their place and to provide transport assistance to the new migrants, elderly community members, socially isolated members, families and community groups.

Outdoor Party and Other Equipment Hire

PAASA provide this service with the help of Department of Multicultural Affairs, Office of the Premier and Cabinet, under Stronger Together grant program for the Pakistani community members in SA.

Plan a BBQ party with your family and friends and hire all of the equipment you need from us. PAASA encourage the newly arrived families (new migrants) to organize get together with their community members for social networking. Arrange a BBQ party in your backyard and invite your multicultural friends’ families and neighbors to introduce them Pakistani BBQ food – Seekh Kabab, Chicken Tikka, Chicken Malai Boti, Reshmi Kabab and our rich hospitality.

If you want to hire projector or portable sound system, please speak to the management committee first.

Community Funeral Fund

  • Funeral Fund is for all Pakistani community members living in SA irrespective of the PAASA membership. It is not restricted to only PAASA financial members.
  • Maximum $3,000 will be used to pay off the funeral expenses from this fund at one occasion through cheque to the deceased’s family.
  • Approval of at least two members of the PAASA management committee will be required to issue the cheque.

Community Outdoor Party Equipment Hire

It has become popular nowadays that people are hiring party equipment to make their special day memorable.

Urdu School

Ethnic School Association of SA runs Language and Culture Schools in South Australia under the governance of Department of Education. Basic purpose of language school is to value the learning of community languages both educationally and socially to enhance and develop young people’s bilingual/multilingual literacies, intercultural capabilities and identities.

PAASA used to run Urdu School for Pakistani community kids in Adelaide from 1990s till 2012. Structure of Urdu School includes school administration and academic committee to manage and run the school effectively under the constitution. Parents and other community members are part of these committees to run the school. School needs to run after hours for at least 2 hours a week.

We are in the process of opening the Urdu School again for our kids. If you want to register your interest for the school management or academic committee, please contact PAASA management committee.
